Why both sides?

Dear Fellow Citizen,

As a progressive, leftist, green, bleeding heart liberal, it would be dishonest of me to profess a neutral stance on the conduct of the Bush Administration.  I am very clearly and firmly in favor of impeaching this administration.

At the same time, as a progressive, leftist, green, bleeding heart liberal, I also believe in participative democracy, and in the individual rights of each and every human being to full and equal participation, regardless of political party, income, or any other categorical qualifier.

Therein lies my dilemma.  Where is the balance between inclusiveness and misrepresentation?

When founding this organization, I had to ask myself, what is my higher purpose?  Why do I want to undertake this project?  Is my higher purpose to impeach the president? Or is my higher purpose to encourage my fellow citizens to communicate their views to our government, regardless of whether or not I agree with him or her?

At the advice of those wiser than I, I choose what was and is for me the much more challenging path: to instill a 50/50 ethic into the tools we present to the public on this website, and to work diligently to dismantle my reactionary response to supporters of the administration to foster a deeper personal understanding of the world, and encourage greater respect between human beings with divergent opinions and thus the evolution of humanity.

So, what does fairness inclusiveness and honesty look like for Citizen Ink?

To make up for my lack of insight into why individuals may choose to support the Bush administration, I invite others to submit copy to fill that void. While there may be those who don’t support the administration but are against impeachment, and perhaps even those who support the administration and are in favor of impeachment (stranger things have happened), I’m afraid we’ll have to leave it up to you to customize the tools presented here.

I will do my absolute best to lobby congress and other citizens to acknowledge the information that clearly points to wrong doing and yet is being ignored: by the press, by government, and by the vast majority of the 204,000,000 private individuals over the age of 18 who have the responsibility to respond.

Participative democracy is the only real form that democracy can take, for what is democracy if the people are silent?

Thank you for your kind consideration,

 Felicia I. Chavez

ImpeachINK is a project of CitizenINK.

The mission of CitizenINK is to help "bridge the gap" between citizens and their elected officials: a gap that has been largely filled by private interests.  CitizenINK is a concept organization formulated by Felicia Chavez, a Green MBA graduate student, as a project to earn her degree, and carry past graduation into the "real" world.

Contributions will go toward a comprehensive website build out (including a Spanish translation) and marketing effort to bring attention to the impeachment issue and the importance of participative democracy.

Please contact me with questions.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Felicia Chavez, Bio

Born and raised in beautiful Northern California , I have had ample opportunity to experience nature and learn to appreciate that she provides everything.  I studied psychology at Dominican University of California (graduated 1999), as I was curious to find out how it was that humanity could reap such destruction, and pay seemingly no mind.  Over time, I came to see how our abuse of one another is all part of the global pattern of self-destruction: domestic violence, exploitation of workers, dumping pollutants in minority communities, U.S. government-sponsored terrorism.  We waste people as readily as we waste resources.  Where does it end?

Through my time working and volunteering at non-profits, experiencing the Bioneers Conference, being a Green MBA student, and generally working to keep myself physiologically healthy, I’ve learned to see the light in the dark.  Finally, in the past few years, I’ve also been introduced to a variety of spiritual schools that give me a perspective and level of aliveness that makes the world seem not only bearable, but beautiful, magical, and chock full of infinite possibility.

Much luck to you on your journey, and I hope that it includes contributing to the democratic evolution of the United States .
