Dear Visitor:

It took 3 million letters and telegrams to spur congress into action to impeach former President Nixon.

While I have spoken with many people who are strongly in favor of impeaching the Bush Administration, I have not spoken with anyone who has written to their elected representatives in Washington asking for impeachment. Believe it or not, that gives me hope. If 3 million people had already written, and still nothing was happening, then I would be worried.

While protests are absolutely necessary, participants are basically anonymous, and therefore your individual opinion is unknown to your representative. While petitions are also necessary, your name amongst thousands and your representative still will not know who you are, what you stand for, and just how important this issues is to you.

Given how our democracy is eroding before our very eyes, everyday people are not effectively speaking up.  If you are not talking directly and specifically to your elected representative, you can be sure someone else is, and you may not like what they are saying.  Please take action: write to your representatives.
